Period 2/3

Have you ever heard about the Silk Road? Why it was made. Who made it? What I will talk about is how the Silk Road was made, who made it, why they made it.
Zhang Qian was known as the father of the Silk Road. Twice the Huns arrested him when he was on his journey. 100 Men were with him and they also were arrested with him. His mission was to make an alliance with people from the west against china’s northern enemy the Huns. After being arrested he escaped. Then he built the Silk Road.
The Silk Road was a network of smaller routes that stretched over 4000 miles long. The reason Chinese people built the Silk Road was to trade to trade with other people along the Silk Road. They call it the Silk Road because people traded everything they had just for silk. Going through the Silk Road was really difficult task. The reason it was difficult was that the mirages confused people. They usually saw the Silk Road. When they saw this mirage they ended up in the wrong place. They either ended up in another place or died trying to get there. The ones that made it got their silk.
The Chinese used the Silk Road to trade with people. They traded china and silk for other items people traded with them. The Romans traded glass for silk. The Romans knew how to turn glass into Shapes. The Chinese used the glass for their homes.
The way Romans found about silk was on their battle near the Euphrates River. The Romans saw how precious silk was to them. That’s when they traded for silk.
Romans traded glass for silk. Silk was very expensive in those times. That’s why Romans couldn’t afford much silk. The Romans had to put the silk on their togas.
Silk was a big problem for the chinese people. They had to keep making silk a really big secret. They had to keep it a secret because if the others knew about it they could make silk and thy wouldn't trade with them anymore. If anyone ever told the secret of how to make silk, that person would die. The way they made silk was by spinning the silk from the cocoon of a silkworm.
People traded everything for silk. They traded perfumes, metals, glass, and other items. They also traded slaves for silk. The chinese probably gave more silk for slaves.
Silk was a good trade because it was very light. The animals couldn't carry alot of heavy stuff but it can carry lots of light stuff. Silk was the light stuff. It didn't weight alot. Thats why silk was traded alot.
